The term RHINOPLASTY means nose modeling or nose forming. Its often referred to commonly as a “nose job”. We often thought of as “cosmetic” only but it can be “functional/reconstructive” or cosmetic/aesthetic” or sometimes both. It may or may not involve the shape of the septum (septorhinoplasty).
Rhinoplasty is a safe and systematic approach, aside from just appearance. the nose is a functionality entity; it provides access for breathing and it houses our organ of olfaction or smell and also it filters warms, moistens, and cleans the air of foreign debris that enters. If not safe and do not follow a systematic approach, then it can result from a smell, deformed nose, not able to breathe, not able to smell and also potentially limits our ability to fight foreign contaminants in the air.
Rhinoplasty is by far the most complex surgery in which 3 pillars of success and balance that is Form, Function, and perception. Form does not always follow function(for example the nose may look greater at the tip but a few millimeters inside could be little lock and you do not breath well) and patient perception of appearance in the ultimate challenge.
For that type of nose problem the following types are used for systematic approach
Deviated septum surgery
The first types are Rhinoplasty: for the deviated nasal septum, most often cannot see a deviated septum externally and external appearance can be normal with a deviated septum. So we can say that in deviated septum the nasal blockage outside could be fine. The causes for deviated nasal septum are TRAUMA, at birth during passage through the birth canal and any trauma to the face causing a nose bleed.
The second one is Functional Rhinoplasty: in which we fix the function a Form should fallow the functions and it is our goal. The most common scenario in the quick surgery that we treated with a lot of respect is some has trauma in their nose by acute fracture by an any accident and when we look in mirror that your nose is twisted there call bleeding from the nose and external condition of the nose is not correct because of twisted. So for the crooked nose, functional Rhinoplasty is used in which trauma occurred and now external appearance of nose affected plus possibly the septum. The closed nasal reduction for acute fracture is, Attempted correction of the crooked nose within 2 weeks of trauma and roughly 50% success rate at straightening the nose long term. It may end up needing a formal Rhinoplasty is 3-6 months.
The third one the last one is Cosmetic Rhinoplasty, in cosmetic rhinoplasty nasal surgery to change the appearance of the nose. The main key is balance form, function and patient’s aesthetic perception equally. Safe, Systematic Approach needed to avoid a small, pinched nose that cannot breathe or smell. So Cosmetic Rhinoplasty involves the reshaping the nose by following method firstly skin detached then bone or cartilage may be removed and at the end synthetic material or tissue may be added.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the average cost of Rhinoplasty is $5,350(exclude anesthesia and room facilities)
